Another reason to love FaceBook: I received tons of happy birthday notes from friends and acquaintances earlier this week. Thanks everyone!

Yesterday someone at my office sent out the following email to everyone in the entire company: “So it’s official - every Tuesday for the remainder of 2008 is HAT DAY!!!!!! I’ve checked this years schedule, and there doesn’t seem to be any conflicts.” I have absolutely no idea why they sent it or what they were referring to, but I found it rather funny anyway.

During Sundance I received 3234 work emails and 561 personal emails. Ugh! How long do you think it will take me to clear my inbox?

Jesse Stay (@jessestay on Twitter) writes about the “Tweet Up” we organized up in Park City during Sundance on his blog. Jesse is a really bright guy from Salt Lake City who drove up to the event with Charlie Oliver (@charlieoliver on Twitter) to see what all the hype was. Grocery shopping for a week’s worth of meals. Smart. Becoming hyper and jittery after drinking Coffee Bean while shopping. Not so smart.

Text messaging has been a staple of Sundance for several years now. But in 2008, a pair of creatively named applications helped raise the practice to new levels.

“Frozen River” is one of the best film’s I’ve seen at Sundance this year. Riveting story and expertly crafted. Great acting from unknowns.

“American Teen”, the Sundance documentary was good. Don’t see what all the fuss is about. Maybe people forgot what high school was like.

So far “Sugar”, movie about a Dominican baseball player, is the best film I’ve seen at this year’s Sundance. Solid writing and directing.

Many at Sundance were negative about “Be Kind Rewind”. I thought it was fun, whimsical and a true reflection of Michel Gondry’s creativity.

“Choke” was funny, strange, inconsistent but overall fairly decent. Nothing great though. $5 mil may have been a little much to pay for it.

Line for the Sundance press screening of “Choke” started an hour beforehand. Guess if you sell your film for $5 mil people want to see it.
